Hey everyone. So I'm here and am finally, FINALLY unpacked. It took almost two weeks to clean, disinfect, de-roach, de-ant, and basically scrub from floor to ceiling in our apartment, but now it's done and (almost) everything is unpacked. The only thing left now is to clear off my desk and do some homework before next week (woohoo). The apartment was really disappointing at first, we drove into our one-block dead end street which as you can see from my subject line, is only five blocks from the Projects here in Jersey City. So we drive onto the block and everyone is sitting on their stoops staring at us. There is a non-descript bag of puke strewn in the middle of the road, rap blasting from shitty speakers so loud that from outside we can barely hear each other. The rap music blends with the latin hip-hop playing from a different house while people sit outside and listen to it and stare. We are the only white people on the block, possibly for a multi-block radius, and people warn us when we walk by that we should stay out of this neighborhood. We start to say that we live here, but they just shake their heads and tell us not to go west of Delaware-which is our street. So yeah, the street wasn't exactly the best introduction to our new home. So we get to the fourth floor of our building (dodging a pitbull and some other scary looking dog whose owners ocassionally leave their doors open to the stairwell thus allowing the mean dogs to run free) and walk into our new home to discover that despite the new European parquet floors in the pictures we saw on Craigslist, the place is basically a shithole. But we had already paid a $1400 security deposit and August rent, so there was no turning back.
So now, after almost two weeks of sweating non-stop because we have one a/c and a long apartment that doesn't really allow air to move from one room to another. Oh yeah, and did I mention that New Jersey and New York were in the middle of a freak heat wave (95-100 degrees every day with 95% humidity) that resulted in a fucking TORNADO touching down in Brooklyn a few days ago!?! Today is the first cool day we've had and it feels fucking great.
The apartment actually looks really really nice and there hasn't been any sort of bug to be seen for over a week. The gas stove really isn't that hard to deal with, and our brand new Queen size pillowtop mattress is proving its worth. Hey at least we can be sweaty and miserable and sleep well!
I start school on Wednesday and I'm getting excited. I've been into NYC a few times over the last couple of weeks and it's such a cool fucking city.. So nanner nanner. All I can tell myself at this point is that we signed a year lease and if the place is unbearable by then we'll at least know where NOT to live in the area. But you know, as much as I bitch, the location is soooo close to the train and our neighbors, despite being kind of scary, have all started to get used to us and actually wave from their stoops when they see us (as we had done to no avail- and feeling retarded as we pasted these big scared smiles over our faces as we wave to the thugs and feel really really white). But yeah. My life just got a whole lot more interesting, to say the least.

It would have been a lot more fitting if she died while chasing a house cat who made off with her diamond ring . . .

I am so sick. Ugh. My brain feels like someone is blowing up a balloon inside of it- except that the balloon is made of like inflatable steel. I have a 102 fever and a constant flow of snot and crap oozing from my orifices (no idea how to spell that, don't care). I can't sleep because I can't breathe and I can't breathe because of the backflow of crap in me. UGH! This is a problem even my codeine cough syrup is powerless against. Make it stop!

NYC = uberfun.
Got back last night and have been swamped at work until now. I finished a weeks worth of work in 6 hours. My coworkers are in awe, go me. Last week was epic.
Monday, Feb. 26th: flew to Newark, arrived around 2am, hung out with Jersey Joe and funny friend Josh who informed us he was getting his nipple pierced the next day within 5 minutes of meeting him. Slept.
Tuesday: got up at the butt-crack of dawn and took the PATH to TriBeca in Manhattan and did the tour thing at New York Law School (NYLS) this was to be by far the coolest of the law schools I've visited. Rode subway to Lincoln Center and checked out Jiulliard, etc. Walked around, enjoyed New York. Had amazing pizza for lunch and dinner. Omg Yums. PATH back to Kearney, New Jersey hung out with Joe and friends, then sleep. Found out via phone call from my sister that I GOT ACCEPTED TO NYLS!! WOOHOOO!!
Wednesday: another early day, JJ's New York Philharmonic audition, he kicked its ass but didn't advance. Fuck em. Checked out Brooklyn law school (wasn't particularly impressed), had some bagels at a Brooklyn deli suggested by guidebook (not that great), Had more sweet pizza, went shopping at H&M(!!), enjoyed a glorious sunset from the top of 30 Rock, got tickets to Phantom of the Opera for 30 bucks each. By far the coolest Broadway show of all time. There was fire, people. Had a late night dinner at my first New Jersey diner with Joe.
Thursday: Slept in (FINALLY!), casually got ready and went to the Met for the opera. Meistersinger von Nurnberg (Wagner), it was fanfuckingtastic. But 6 hours long. We got there at 4 to line up 2 hours early for a show that started at 6 and left the opera house at midnight. That's a long effin time. But that's Wagner for ya. PATHed it back to Jersey, had a couple brews with Joe and Co.
Friday: Early day, picked up rental car, drove to New Haven, JJ had Yale audition (which he also kicked butt on), while I drove to Hartford to check out UConn Law school. Wierd school, shitty town. But best that I might get into so we'll see. Went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. For those of you who are Cracker Barrel virgins, it is the most amazing down home southern comfort food on the planet. Chicken and Dumplins. Nuff said. Drove through White Plains for a quick glimpse of Pace at night (plans to walk around the campus were abandoned due to time restraints). Returned to Jersey, hit up a local bar with Joe and friends. Very fun. These kids can drink an Irish car bomb faster than I can say it.
Saturday: returned rental car early that morning, train to NYC, more sweet pizza, checked-in to hotel room!! no hide-a-bed tonight! Rode Staten Island Ferry, laughed at the crazy dude making fart noises, walked through Battery Park and made fun of other tourists. Hiked from the tip of Manhattan to Times Square through Chinatown, Little Italy, etc. Had some awesome Gelato. Discovered that the stores come in themes on the blocks here, i.e. restaurant supplies and chandelier stores smattered on a block. Went to Central Park at dusk for a belated Valentine's Day gift from JJ for a romantic Horse and Carriage ride :). Had amazing hot dogs from a place called Gray Papaya or something like that. Very yummy. Went back to hotel room and watched Major Payne on cable.
Sunday: last day in the city :(. I slept in while JJ left for a busy day of two auditions: Jiulliard and Manhattan school of music. Met up for lunch at this bombass burger/pizza place (Nick's) and had burgers. Walked through Central Park a bit, went our seperate ways: his, auditions, mine, the Met. Did the museum thing for a couple hours and barely made a dent. Hit up the Apple store on fifth avenue for new headphones. VERY COOl, it's underground, but you enter the store from like the sidewalk via a circular staircase, hard to explain. Did some last minute tourist things, more walking, met Steve at Bourbon Street bar for some sweet beer and Wii bowling. Continued on to Jersey with Steve, (who we persuaded to take a sick day :)) Joe and friends for more drinking. Had an awesome time.
Monday: Slept in :) gratefully. Would have been a killer hangover if we hadn't slept it off. Was informed by Joe's dad that a bomb threat had shut down Newark airport. Panicked for about a minute. Informed by Joe that he was hyped up on painkillers and had no idea what the fuck he was talking about. Funny.
All in all, it was a bombass time. Joe was awesome and we totally owe him. Should he ever make it up here it will be badassawesome. Yay New York, but I'm glad to be home. I'm exhausted.

Leaving for New York on Monday. I'm pumped! It's finally kicking in now that I'm not going to be in Seattle much longer (in the long-term sense). I think I must have subconsciously known that I wasn't going to go straight to school last year, because I really never got excited about moving or even thought about it that much. It's like I was dreading it. I don't know why, I'm so excited about all of it now. I guess I just needed time to grow up a bit more. And well, the fact that JJ and I will be making the move together certainly changes my perspective.
But yeah, I'm pretty sick of work. It's like the easiest job on the planet but the middle-aged bitches I work with need to leave me the fuck alone. I swear, they are worse than Middle School girls with all the drama and shit. Whatever, I need this vacation next week. Right now I'm just sitting here getting my hour of work done for the day so I can watch Grey's Anatomy on the ABC website. Yeah.

Just booked it a couple hours ago, JJ and Katie's New York Adventure will commence February 26th! I know I'm pumped. JJ, maybe not so much, he's mostly nervous/anxious for his auditions. Which by the way he's gonna kick ass at. That is what he does. So yeah, New York, here we come. Any tips for finding cheap tickets for Broadway?

I just realized that I haven't posted since September. And well, that's a long time (long enough to justify a sentence beginning with 'and'). This is likely because my life is rather boring. I work 8:30 to 5:30 every day, I go to the gym afterwards and get home just in time to shower, eat, watch tv and sleep. Sometimes with a trip to a bar and a little pool playing with the man somewhere in between. This is the reason I am taking a year off, to get bored with my life and find incentive to do something else- even if that something else is law school. I retook the LSAT at the beginning of this month, just to see what would happen, and got the exact same score as I did the first time. Awesome. Oh well, it was significantly harder than the first one (like 20x) and yet I got the same score, so maybe that means I got smarter but the test got accordingly harder. Typical.
Lots of trips are being planned right now. JJ and I are going on the much anticipated cruise to the Bahamas and Disneyworld with his fam in July. SOOO freakin excited. I've never been on a cruise, but I am all for getting wasted on tropical drinks and snorkeling and all that good stuff. Plus, you can't really go wrong with Disneyworld. JJ has his auditions coming up in the next few months so we are going to NYC sometime between February and March. Him to audition, me to wander around, attend a couple classes at Pace to check it out and apartment locale-hunting. It's so friggin intense that we are going to be moving over there in August. Huge fucking step in both of our lives, really exciting because New York is amazing. it'll be sad to leave Seattle tho, I love it here. I need to do some hardcore Seattlite-ing before I leave. I figure I need to go like climb around on the Fremont troll and take gay pictures, buy crap I don't need in Pike Place Market, and maybe take a ferry to nowhere in particular. I still haven't been to the EMP, although I've been told by EVERYONE that it sucks. Oh well, it's gotta happen sooner or later . .
One of my coworkers just got back from a trip to London and has been talking about it all morning. I secretly hate her because I am jealous. I want to go to London! Wait a minute, I'm jealous of a 35-year-old woman who still lives with her parents and therefore doesn't pay rent so can afford to take said trip. Sad? No, I'm still jealous.
On another note, I HATE WORKING IN A CUBICLE. I HATE WORKING WITH RETARDED LATE-30-SOMETHING SINGLE WOMEN WITH CATS!! GRARRRGH!

Went blackberry picking with good ol' Ally Hollinger yesterday afternoon at Magnuson park. So much fun! There is such a simple satisfaction with playing outside. Wearing shorts wasn't the best idea, Ally and I both left with little pink slashes from the thorns all over our legs and arms. We then proceeded to make some badass blackberry pies that would have made Martha proud. Quite a lovely evening I must say.
On another note
